Images from 2007

tree ornament Welcome to the photo gallery that accompanies our Christmas letter. We hope you enjoy the pictures of what we've been up to during 2007.

Below are some photo highlights from the year. Click on the links to see more images in the same vein or from the same trip.

Karen in the studio During the year, we worked on our latest Chromatics CD, Committed, which we finished in July. We spent a lot of the beginning of the year in the studio working on that.

Here's Karen in the studio in January working on Barry and Deb's song Suburban Dream.

ice shards on the deck In the middle of February, we had a pretty bad ice storm. All the trees were coated with thick ice. Then the wind picked up and we got tiny (and not so tiny) ice shards all over everything. The noise of it falling on the roof and hitting the windows was amazingly scary. We were without power for about 36 hours. It was a cold Valentine's day...

Here's our deck after the ice has fallen.

Karen and Kim In April, Karen was matron of honor for the wedding of Kim Weaver and Jack Scheer. We had a lot of fun planning, making favors, going to tastings, etc. And the wedding day was beautiful, too. More photos will come soon, I hope!

Alan in straight jacket In May, we had a bunch of (okay, 700+) photos taken of the Chromatics folk in a straight-jacket. This was for the cover of the CD, to give a little humor to the word "committed". As in "we should be".

Here's Alan looking completely cool.

mossy logs waterfall In June, we spent a week in the Smoky Mountains hiking around and enjoying the outdoors. It was very relaxing to be away from the noise and traffic of the city for a while.

The mossy logs are in the Smokies, but the waterfall is in Shenandoah National Park, which is much closer to DC. Best waterfall of the trip (we hiked to five). There are lots more cool photos of this trip. I'll see about getting them online.

building reflection freedom monument In September, for Alan's birthday, we went to Budapest. We met Alan's parents there (not by accident!) and toured around the city for a week. It was great fun and a wonderful city with interesting buildings, good food, and friendly people. I have a whole bunch of good photos from this trip.

There's lots of great architecture in Budapest. On the left is the old reflected in the new (I have several in this vein of different buildings). On the right is the freedom monument, one of the most famous symbols of Budapest.

the scream! In October, we visited Arizona for Karen's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We spent several days with them and the rest of the kids/grandkids. It was great to get everyone together at the same time for once. Lots more photos of family and the scenic drive up to Mt. Lemmon will be linked here eventually.

The kids took the parents out to dinner. Beforehand, we had a photographer do family portraits. In between, we waited for our reservation time. Apparently if you put all the Kuehns in one place and make them wait, they start to get a bit strange... Click on the photo for a larger view!

fence In late October, we spent a weekend at Antietam. It was perfect cool weather and the leaves were just nearing their peak.

This fence line joins the famous "sunken road" just a little further out of view...

Merry Christmas! And have a great 2008. Please keep in touch with us. We miss our old friends and we know you all have email accounts. We've made it really easy to keep in touch by linking our names below to our email accounts! Click and let us know how it's going!
