On a warm clear day with good views of the mountains we headed off along the coast road to Antalya Archeological Museum where we saw statues, sarcophagi,
costumes. Then, as many of us were scraping the bottom of the digital barrel, we requested an unscheduled stop at a very modern mall to buy extra memory
cards for our cameras. Back on the tourist trail at Aspendos we visited an extremely well preserved 2C AD Roman theater. We drove by a nearby Roman
aqueduct on the way to Manavgat waterfall, and ended the afternoon at Side, a town on the coast which was right on the path of totality for the eclipse.
Here we had a very late lunch and then talked our way into the Roman theater, where the (San Francisco) Exploratorium folks were setting up for tomorrow.
Eclipse fever was mounting! We walked back to watch and listen to a sunset concert in the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, overlooking the sea.
