Day 1: Friday

We arrived in the afternoon and spent most of our time doing a recon of the area, including wandering through the casino and underwater viewing areas for the many aquaria they have at Atlantis. Lots of sharks and fish, starfish, lobsters, and creatively-designed fake reef areas. Atlantis is an overwhelming resort on many many acres. The hotels and restaurants are done in a sort of mix of classical Greek, Roman and Egyptian motif with amazing sculptures, while outside is a hedonistic collection of swimming pools, water slides (from a mayan temple), restaurants and bars, and of course, beautiful white-sand beaches. The sun came out in the late afternoon and we spent a bit of time at the pool.

Curious? Visit the Atlantis web site.
