Welcome to the photo gallery that accompanies our Christmas letter. We
hope you enjoy the pictures of what we've been up to during 2004.
Sorry, no photos of the office... though this picture of us is from my
company's holiday party.
Below are some photo highlights from the year. Click on the links to see more images in the same vein or from the same trip.
In February, we went to the Bahamas with friends
Padi and Jim, and their son Ryland.
Here's Alan enjoying a sail on a catamaran.
In April, we continued our tradition of one home improvement project per
year, and had our master shower retiled. (Funny
how the projects are
getting smaller every year - the kitchen drove us to drink and we don't
want to make it worse!)
What a mess! | ||
All during the year, I took pictures of the
backyard, from the azaleas in January (!) to the tree removal we had
done in October. Nature and wildlife photos dominate, so view these at
your leisure.

In August, we visited the UK to see Alan's parents. We were only able to be there for a week (Alan doesn't get much vacation as a new civil servant), but we did see some interesting gardens, castles, and a fascinating Victorian-age living museum.
In September, we went to New Orleans for a work-related trip. We've been there several times before, so I didn't take many pictures.
Later in September, the National Museum of the American Indian opened in Washington. We made reservations to see it during the first week, so that we could experience the festivities and shop at the bazaar. It's a beautiful building with an amazingly interesting and diverse collection. Certainly worth a trip if you're over this way.
In October, we went to friends Maggie and Doug's wedding. We also saw Lance Armstrong on the Ellipse in Washington DC, at the end of the Tour of Hope. |

During the year, the Chromatics performed 20 times. Here at the grand opening of the Maryland Science Center's new wing, Alan points at the audience while singing "A Little Bit of Rock" (about comets, asteroids, and meteors) and Karen bares her midriff (don't look, Dad!) while singing "The Swift Song" (about the Swift gamma-ray-burst chasing satellite, which launched on November 20).
