Wed, Sept 17th

And off to the Amalfi Coast; took the express train to Naples and then a car to Positano, along cliff roads with spectacular views. Positano, like all the little towns along the coast, is built on a steep, rocky gradient, so for the most part walking around the town means walking up steps, down steps, up a slope, or down a slope. Walked around the town, past quaint shops and through interesting alleyways, all the way to the Spaggia Grande. (Big beach.)

After our walk, sat on our balcony and watched dusk slowly approaching, the shadow creeping across the face of the town.

Our hotel is amazing.

And, to top it all, we actually slept for 8 hours this evening. Our hotel in Rome, while not quite on the Piazza, is close enough that it was very noisy for most of the night. (For our return to Rome we got wise and requested a third-floor room with a window facing into a lightwell, rather than a second-floor room on the street.)
